Immersive Memoir Writing Retreat in Sayulita, Mexico
Exploring Life’s Pivotal Moments through the Five Senses

Step into a week of inspiration, reflection, and renewal on Mexico’s breathtaking Pacific coast. Our memoir writing retreat takes place in the enchanting town of Sayulita, at the family estate of Corazon, a place where memory and magic seem to linger in the air.

For five unforgettable days, you will be guided to reflect on the pivotal moments of your life, exploring them through the lens of your senses. Each day will focus on one of the five senses, helping you uncover the ways sight, sound, taste, touch, and smell unlock memory and enrich life story writing.

Retreat Highlights

  • Five days and six nights at Corazon, a private family estate just steps from the
    Ocean
  • Daily writing workshops designed to help you discover, shape, and share your
    life stories
  • A unique sensory-based approach to unlocking memory and inspiration
  • Time for personal writing, relaxation, and exploration
  • On-site delicious catered meals, featuring local cuisine
  • Deluxe and architecturally unique accommodations
  • Cultural enrichment through guest speakers, culinary experiences, and
    celebration

Dates: March 8–14, 2026

Facilitators: Heidi Thorsen, Heather Alicia Knox and special guest Dr. Cheryl Svensson, author, curriculum developer and Executive Director for The Birren Center for Autobiographical Studies.

Participation is limited to twelve guests to create a personal space for quality interaction.

This retreat is more than a getaway—it is a chance to nurture your creativity, reconnect with your deepest stories, and carry home both new writing and renewed inspiration.

Come write, reflect, and immerse yourself in the beauty and spirit of Mexico. Your stories are waiting to be written—and Corazon is waiting to welcome you.

What to expect at a retreat

Mornings begin with workshops using the Guided Autobiography approach—thoughtful activities, writing prompts, group sharing, and discussion. Afternoons are yours to shape: continue writing, savor time for quiet reflection, or enjoy optional offerings like yoga, massage, relaxing by the saltwater pool or exploring Sayulita’s vibrant culture. Evenings will immerse you in the local spirit with local guest speakers, a hands-on cooking class, and a festive closing celebration.

Where is this retreat taking place?

Corazon is the family property of Billie and Tim Taylor and the home to White Feather Healing Center. This exquisite compound was originally built with the intention of providing a place to gather family and friends for fun, healing, and restoration. Over time the property revealed itself to have a deeper purpose.  It was a sacred site to the indigenous people of this area and maintains a special energy. We have come to believe that when you spend time here you not only absorb the energy contained within but leave a bit of your own energetic footprint behind. The Taylor family see themselves as stewards of this place and its special energy.

As Corazon was originally built as a place for family to come together, each casita was built for a different member of the Taylor family – Billie & Tim, Lake, Rudd, Chris & Tessa. You’ll notice each space has a different layout or aesthetic, reflecting the taste of the family member that helped to design that casita.
